Do I pay customs duty on household goods when moving to Montenegro?
It depends on the route. Foreign residents with a temporary residence permit can usually import household goods temporarily against a financial guarantee instead of paying duty. A permanent import is charged duties and taxes on the goods' value. Returning Montenegrin citizens may qualify for relief. We confirm which applies to you before anything ships.
Can I ship my belongings before I have a residence permit?
You can, but temporary import depends on holding a valid residence permit. Goods that arrive first usually wait in storage or are imported permanently at full duty, so we time the shipment around your residence file.
What can't I bring?
Food, alcohol and other consumables are not allowed under temporary import. Other items, such as medicines or anything regulated, have their own rules. List anything unusual in your review and we will check it first.
